Where did the creativity of anet go..
They are not opening the whole Wintersday Festival, they are opening the Snowball Arena and allowing Wintersday drops! how is that so hard to understand? its not a festival. No Mini Polar Bears, Dancing Penguins, Winter Dwarves, hats or decorations.

I think you're a little silly to assume that they planned it before Daniel and others suggested it, given his track record into organising winter events. (unless Daniel deleted his post because he got a message or information relative to that) But then I'm not surprised that you'd think this.
Regina has already said this was planned back in 2007 but never put into action. So yeah they planned it a year before Frozenwind.

I think it's great that they bring a small part of the Wintersday back now since i love the "event" allthou everything from the real event wont be there this time.

I admit that it's odd to have it now, but why complain. We all have our favorite/not favorite weekend events and Major events.

Btw, GW isn't like real life, therefor you can have a windersday in July, just face it ppl. you don't have to participate, you have a choice!

Yeah someone already said this above this, but

Thanks very much for the re-send. I've responded to it. The discussion within the design team for the Wintersday in July event started back in Q1 2007, but at the time they didn't have the right setup to make the snowball arena work outside of the regular Wintersday event. It wasn't until late last year that it could actually run on its own. Fast forward to a few months ago, the designer responsible for events starting planning for the 2007 Wintersday in July event in March of this year.--Regina Buenaobra Image:User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 22:43, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
So yeah.

They plan these things in advance.

Ok, well I'll trust them on this one and apologise, then delete the messages so as to not spread a false rumor.

There have been no details yet released on this event I gather yet? So I am guessing its going to be more then just Arenas based pvp, Apart from the Snowball fighting and normal special drops from mobs etc...

All the details I suppose. Snowball Arena + drops only.

Maybe this is unusual in other parts of the USA/world, but "Christmas in July" is pretty common here in the Northeast. I'm more surprised it hasn't been done sooner.

And why complain? Free ale/tonic/sweet drops

I think someone who has an everlasting Phantasmal Tonic should create a new toon named similar to "Rift Warden" and have them stand in LA in the usual spot and see how many people will attempt to get the quest from them!

ANET does something a little different for the community and we get comments like yours and others who have simliar posts here. I think it will be a fun time and like many have stated it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere so totally appropriate. It wasn't lack of ideas imo but creative thinking.
